“Torque Response” is engineering-speak for get-up from a dead stop. And the Detroit Diesel DD15™ is 75% faster than a Series 60®. Even fully loaded, you feel yourself launching up the on-ramps. The DD15 is loaded with up to 560 HP and up to 50 free horsepower from the turbocompounding. Plus it hits it maximum torque as low as 1,100 RPM, so you’re not grabbing for gears climbing the hills.

Cool Your Horses

Cascadia comes standard with a large, 1625 square inch radiator designed to cool most engine applications for both EPA 2007 and 2010 emission requirements. Or the truck can be uprated to an optional 1750 square inch radiator for engines over 500 horsepower. We put every Cascadia drivetrain combination through our Environmental Chamber dyno. They spent hundreds of grueling hours under a full load to fine-tune their performance. The result: a completely reliable cooling system that’s low profile, yet provides the cooling needed for the highest horsepower truck engines.

Dawn of the Hydraulic Clutch

Cascadia comes with a hydraulic clutch linkage. Over the past four decades, the car industry has perfected the reliability of these hydraulic systems. The lack of mechanical linkages means you lose less road time fine-tuning the system. In addition, by eliminating noisy mechanical linkages that can rattle, there’s less noise in the cab.

Ready for EPA 2010

The Freightliner Cascadia is built to accept SCR-equipped engines, which are designed to meet all EPA 2010 regulations. SCR is designed to let you run smart by actually increasing your fuel economy by up to 5% over other emissions treatment systems.

All that power lives under one of the best looking hoods we’ve ever built. Made out of a single panel of fiberglass, it’s designed to take a lot of abuse, and be easily repaired if you push it too hard. If you do need to take a peek at your powerhouse, the built-in hood opening and closing assist mechanism means it only takes 40 lbs. of lifting force to get your hood up.

Controlling The Power

If you can’t get the power from the engine to the wheels, you aren’t going anywhere. With a wide range of Eaton and Allison transmissions, you get to choose the drive you want, and they all give you the power that you need. You also have the option of adding a transmission PTO so you can get the job done once you get to the worksite

Ready for 2010

Each Coronado is equipped with everything you need to be ready for the 2010 EPA mandate. The built-in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) System not only brings your NOx and Particulate Matter down to acceptable levels, but it can also give you up to 5% better fuel economy with a DD15 BlueTec equipped engine compared to a DD15 ’07 engine. In order to keep everything running, you’ll just have to fill up a single tank of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), which you can already find at hundreds of truck stops across the country.

Gulp in the Air

We’ve redesigned our intake system to make sure your engine can get all the air it needs to keep on working strong. Air enters through one of the two intakes, with optional pre-cleaners, and is sent into the hood air plenum, where most of the moisture is removed. A bellows then sends it through the new Donaldson Advanced Power Core Air Filter before heading into the engine.

Tech Friendly Electronics

The electronics systems of the Coronado are built to be strong, but make maintenance a breeze. Our new electrical harness and dashboard-wiring layout reduce wire rubbing to extend the life of your electrical components. And from the dual 76-pin connections along the front wall to the easy loop layout, we did everything we could to make repairs easier, so you can get out of the tech bay and back on the road.
